Before the first Use

Before the first use , pull the insulating plastic strip from the housing .

Normal Operation

Hold the unit far from metal and press the button briefly . The red LED lights up . Place the unit with the front firmly and in a night angle against the surface you intend to measure . If the unit detects metal up to 1 mm under the surface , the green LED will turn on . If the coating on the metal is thicker , the yellow or the red LED light up .

Press and hold the button to turn the unit off . If the unit is not used , it tums off after approximately 45 seconds .

Reference Operation

Hold the unit far from metal and press the button britfly . The red LED lights up . Place the unit with the front firmly and in a right angle against a reference surface . The thickness of the coating on this surface acts as a reference for turther measuring . Press the button again , now the red and the green led flash altemating .

When the unit is now removed from the surface the red LED lights up . Now press the unit to the surface which you wish to compare to the reference surface . If the thickness of the coating is different from the reference surface , the yellow and the red LED flash alternating . When the thickness of the surface coating is the same as on the reference surface , the red and the green LED flash alternating .

 Press the button at any time while the red LED is on to switch to the normal operating mode or press and hold the button to turn the unit off . If the unit is not used , it tums off after approximately 45 seconds .

Please Notice

The thickness of the paint of motor vehicles can be very different in one vehicte by besign , e.G. due to stone chip proof paint in some areas of the vehcle . Therefore , only compare the coating thickness of corresponding parts , such as the left and right front wing .

Changing the Battery

A weak battery is indicated by all three LED flashing . Loosen the four screws on the back of the unit with a suitable screwdriver and carefully remove the rear half if the housing . Replace the battery 3 V CR2032 with a fresh one of the same type and dimensions . The spend battery is pushed out of its holder towards the rear of the unit and the fresh battery is inserted with the plus (+) side facing up . After that , reassemble the unit and carefully tighten the screws .
